Assignment #6B
Week of September 19th
Work Ethics
For the work ethics assignment, my assignment was to take a quick test on the owei website. You are asked several questions about how dependable, friendly, or ambitious you are. The answer ranges from never to always. This test depicts three different characteristics of work ethics; the interpersonal skills, the initiative skills, and the dependability skills. A person's interpersonal skills are the life skills we use everyday to communicate with people at work, school, or wherever. It is very important that a person has this skill because being able to communicate well with people will help you to be successful. You will gain more insight in your job and your career. Most jobs and professions look for an employee that has this skill. Initiative skill is an important skill for someone to have, so that they can have drive in their work. If someone does not have this skill or is negligence, he/ he will miss many great opportunities. You can lose your job and all the amazing benefits that comes with it. Lastly, dependability is the act of being dependable. When someone is dependable, they are honest, reliable, and punctual. This is the most sought characteristics in an employee.
In my case, I learned that I am consistent in my performance and behavior; people can depend on me for things. This definitely relates to what I am doing now because it gives me an insight on the things I need to focus more on. Sometimes when you are working in a certain environment, there are other important factors to forget. For example, communicating with the other employees is important. You need to be able to share your ideas together and help each other out. I will remember that I should have more drive and a goal while I am working there, even though I might not see the future.
